EXPANSION JOINTS (Lateral)

EXPANSION JOINTS (Lateral)

This expansion joint has the same characteristics as the “Universal” expansion joint with the addition of tie rods that allow the support of the pressure load. The rods avoid the expansion joint from absorbing axial movements, except for the one produced by the expansion of the spool or pipe which separates de bellows, therefore this model is indicated for lateral movements only.

As in the majority of cases, when rods and fixing plates are installed, the anchors support much less pressure.

This Expansion Joint has the same characteristics of the Universal Expansion Joint except the tie rods has been added to restrain the pressure thrust load. This Expansion Joint will not absorb any axial movement excepting the thermal expansion of the central pipe between both bellows.

Whenever an Expansion Joint has installed tie rods, the anchors and support requirements are greatly reduced from the required for the Unrestrained Expansion Joints.
